It has been a little over 18 months since I've been on this, but it was a good time.
I served as a volunteer missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the great state of South Carolina, and it was honestly one of the hardest things I've ever done. So many doors were closed in our faces, the homesickness was difficult, and sometimes its hard to go out for the day, even when all you want to do is curl up in bed and hibernate. Theres more, but I don't think we have enough time to count everything hard about it. The trials outnumbered the good moments. However, the good moments always outweigh the trials. I loved seeing the changes people made in their lives as they gained a greater understanding of the truths so many are looking for. I loved seeing hearts softening through their faith in Christ. Again, there's so much good in a mission, that we don't have enough time to count the many blessings that I've seen from it. It is a blessing to teach and share the restored gospel, even though it was in the bible belt. But I'm glad that that is where I was called to serve.
Through out those eighteen months, I got to serve in four congregations, which were in Hopkins, Conway, Cheraw, and Seneca. I met so many wonderful people there, and learned a lot from them as well.
I think the greatest thing I got from all of it though, was a closer relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as my Heavenly Father. I know I am a daughter of God, and that Christ is my Brother. I could not have done anything without them, and will always rely heavily on them.
I loved giving my time and talents to them, and seeing the miracles that they allowed to happen.
Now that I'm home, I'm preparing to go back to college, and building on what I've learned in South Carolina.
